I feel compelled to forward this information to all of you.
Below, I pasted a post from Tedward, Shin of the Los Angeles Fire Conclave. This is a post from his new "Fire Arts Competition" tribe.
Below his post, you'll find 2 links to threads on the tribe that discuss the intention of this proposed competition. I've been very active in these threads in an effort to preserve the integrity of our Art Form.
The threads are lengthy, but I encourage you to read them because I feel the global state of the Fire Arts potentially hangs in the balance! A strong statement I'm aware, but I truly do believe it. Thanx for your time... ~Vatra~

Who what when where....
Okay, so, people have asked, here's the poop.
My fire troupe did a gig for LobsterfestLA. The promoter who threw it
is now very interested in doing a LARGE fire arts event. At about the
same time that it was brought up in the Fire Tribe, he mentioned the
idea of a fire arts competition. So I thought I'd stir the soup a bit.
so here's the specifics:
Where: Port of LA, San Pedro
When: about early summer, we think
Who: if it's a competition, any fire performer, if it's a gig, we'll
select.
Is this for sure? No, but so few things are.
Is this for real? I gotta say, he sounded pretty definite.
He likes throwing "kids enter free" events, so this would have a lot of
families. This would be entirely above board, so the fire marshals
would be there in force, and will ultimately help shape the final draft
of the event. Also, he has a marketing machine that pulled down a LOT
of people for Lobsterfest, and it still didn't reach most of the city.
With us helping, the reach could be HUGE!
Lots of people means a lot of money available for payouts. A lot of us
could walk away with a month's rent or more on this deal.
This is only the first year, naturally we won't get everything right.<<
